YOU CONTROL THE WAY YOU SLEEP!

Picture this:

You're in bed by 10:00pm, the room is dark, the temperature is just right.

You slide one foot out from under the cool sheets and quickly fall into a deep sleep.

The neighbors dog, your partner, your phone, and all the kids rest peacefully.

You sleep through the night without even the slightest interruption and wake up on your own, right before the sun rise.  Because no screeching alarm was necessary to wake you, you rise cheerfully.

You are less stressed and are ready to take on another day having experienced 7+ hours of glorious sleep.

Be honest, is this scenario any where near normal at your house?

I'm guessing like many reading this you laughed and rolled your eyes at this perfect nights sleep fairytale.

Some of you have had less than 7+ hours of sleep so far this week.

Trust me, you are not alone.  Life is busy.  Schedules are crazy.  Good quality sleep eludes many people.

Approximately, one third of the US adults report that they get less than the recommended amount of sleep in a 24 hour period.

And an unfortunate correlation between those adults who reported not getting enough sleep regularly, was they also reported having 1 or more chronic health conditions (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorder, depression, anxiety, etc.).

While you sleep your body remains hard at work.  During deep REM sleep, hormones flood into your systems and assist with raising immunity and lowering stress levels.  The blood supply to your muscles increases and muscle repair and growth take place.  Your gut digests food and your appetite resets regular hunger signals.  All systems work together while you sleep to heal and recover the body.

This collaboration between body systems allows you to wake up feeling refreshed, re-energized, and motivated!

Are you struggling to get that health and fitness lifestyle dialed in?

Try implementing a better sleep routine!   The National Sleep Foundation website is a great resource to help with sleep habits.  They have inexpensive practical tips and products for helping you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly once asleep!
